UK Landscape Photographer: Westmorland Cairn and Wastwater

The view from Westmorland Cairn to Wastwater is fairly breathtaking, I watched a float plane fly in from the west.  It circled the lake and then landed on the water, the first time I’ve seen this done in the English Lake District.  Looking at the moss growing on it, the cairn must be quite ancient. It adds nice foreground interest to the image and is a great spot to sit quietly and contemplate the neighbouring hills.  It’s also interesting how voices can sometimes carry over quite long distances in the hills on calm days.  I could hear the conversation of a couple of walkers on the Corridor Route on the opposite side of the valley!
