A few days away visiting friends in Ayrshire and an opportunity to visit some locations that might otherwise have eluded me was a welcome break. Portencross is one of those places I might have overlooked and I found and gives a fine view of the Isle of Arran and Goatfell. Saturday’s weather was a mixed bag; warm and humid with frequent brief but heavy showers and sunny periods. As so often grows out of such conditions, a dramatic sunset began to take shape behind Goatfell and it was a peaceful few minutes watching the spectacle. This part of Scotland is quiet, the vast majority of visitors hurtle on by on their way northwards to the Highlands and Islands. It’s worth spending a little time exploring what the area has to offer.
