There’s nothing quite like spending a night beside a lake and being there at sunrise to watch the reawakening. Llynnau Mymbyr is a magical place for a calm and quiet sunrise. Misty wraiths rise upwards as light and colour return, pulling life to the surface and then disappearing. Life rising, mesmerising. The downside of being near water in calm and humid conditions is that you’l be sharing the experience with the local midge population. The midges were out in force on this morning at Llynnau Mymbyr, every bit as bad as their Scottish cousins and it became a battle of wills between them and me to see who would concede first. I was never going to win that particular battle, eventually I was beaten back by the onslaught but the visual treat of seeing in the new day was worth the discomfort.
