Oblique side lighting on a late-winter’s sunrise caught my attention as I walked through Bolehill Quarry. The birches have reclaimed the quarry and add strong graphical shapes to this atmospheric place. It can become busy here with walkers, climbers and photographers but I was fortunate to have the quarry to myself on this crisp morning in the Peak District. Light, textures and tones combine in Bolehill Quarry, making perfect subjects for images with black and white film.
